I hope everyone is having an enjoyable and healthy start to the 2019 New Year! Trucha Fly Fishing Guide Service is looking forward to seeing returning anglers and meeting new fly fishing anglers and outdoor enthusiasts.
The 2019 winter has provided numerous heavy rain storm systems already recording one of the wettest winter's in years. Mammoth Mountain currently has the deepest snow pack in the country, 446 inches at the summit, and just recently it was announced that ski lifts will be operating until July 4th and possibly after that, depending on how conditions hold up. It is going to be another season with volumes of high water levels at Crowley lake. WOW, flat out amazing!
2019 Guide Trip Reservations
I wanted to reach out to all in anticipation of the approaching fishing season at Crowley Lake and the Eastern Sierra to inform that we are currently taking reservations for 2019. We have open dates from May through the end of October.
As of this report, angler's (returning clients) are already reserving their 2019 guide trip dates. For some of you it might be to early to lock in specific dates but it might be wise to reserve some possible dates. You can always change your reserved date/s as long as you are within the cancellation policy. Reserve your guide trip dates by calling, sending a text or an email message.
2019 will be a full season for anglers to fish off the Trucha Fly Fishing Machine II. This 24 foot Ranger boat fishing platform is second to none. Extremely comfortable and plenty of angling room for those hard tugging, athletic fighting fish, that will move you around the boat in no time flat.
Sacramento Perch Guide Trips
I also conduct guide trips for the ever popular Sacramento Perch between May and July when the perch are in the shallow waters for their spawning process. Fishing for perch is a lot of fun and a different fishing experience and alternative when the trout are not biting. You can always book what I call my "P/T" (Perch/Trout) guide trips. We start the P/T guide trip in pursuit of the perch then switch over to the trout if the action calls for the change. I use spinning rod set-ups and/or fly rod set-ups to catch the perch. It depends on the bite action and what is most productive.
Guide Service Rates
There has been a slight increase in my guide fee due to rising operation costs and to be at par with other competitive guide service provider's rates. I believe in my mission and commitment to give it my best effort each and every guide trip. As many of you know, I love sharing my fly fishing passion, enthusiasm, excitement, knowledge and information, and to provide a most memorable Eastern Sierra outdoor experience. There is nothing like it! This is why season in and season out, angler enthusiasts continue to ascend upon this great "Trophy Trout" fishery. It truly is a healthy and therapeutic activity and addiction!
Trucha Fly Fishing Reports
Please note that during the fishing season I regularly post up to date fish reports on my Trucha Fly Fishing Guide Service Facebook page. I also post reports on my website usually on a bi-weekly basis. I post on Instagram to report on the water fishing activity, pictures, and video to keep you aware of "on the spot, at the moment" action. On occasion during the season, I will issue my monthly Newsletter to those who have subscribed to my Newsletter e-mailing list.
There are two ways to access my Facebook page. (You don't need to be signed up as a Facebook user in order to access my page). The first way is to click on the Facebook link found at my website. Trucha Fly Fishing Guide Service has attended the Bakersfield Central Valley Outdoor Show now known as the Fred Hall Central Valley Outdoor Show the past six years. Learn How to Fly Fish
Trucha Fly Fishing Guide Service takes pride in the fact that many of our clients are on their first time ever fly fishing experience. Our goal is to demonstrate that fly fishing is not an elitist type of sport, and more importantly, that fly fishing is "not as difficult" as many may believe! It will only take 30 to 45 minutes to introduce you to the A,B,C's of the fly rod and the Stillwater Fly Fishing technique used to catch trophy trout at Crowley Lake. Thereafter, I will be at your side guiding you along as the the exciting action unfolds once you hook into Crowley's athletic fighting trout.
I always encourage first timers and beginners to seek out a beginners fly fishing course to enhance there interest, knowledge, and beginner skills in fly fishing. Local fly shops and fly fishing clubs are you best resource for this. One local fly fishing club that puts on an outstanding annual fly fishing course is the Sierra Pacific Fly Fishers (SPFF). Their 2019 course is set for February 23 thru March 16 with a special graduation class in Bishop, Ca on March 29 and 30th. For more information go to the SPFF website at www.SPPF.org

Check you local areas for the closest fly fishing shop or club resource nearest you. I hope to see everyone this coming season!
